Online Safety is all about keeping safe on the internet. We take the children's Online Safety very seriously at Chilvers Coton Community School and work as a team to ensure our pupils are educated and prepared to surf the cyber world and all it has to offer, whilst keeping themselves safe and protected.
We are starting to set up our own Online Safety committee which is made up of a member of each class in Year 1 and 2 , Miss Gutteridge (Online safety leader),Mrs Mabberley (Acting Head Teacher) and one of our governors. Our Group aims to meet every half term to discuss Online Safety within the school, share concerns and new ideas to promote and encourage safe use of the internet.
Children are taught about Online Safety using a range of characters including digi-duck, Smartie the Penguin and Hector. They are also taught to 'Zip it, Flag it, Block it' thorough Computing lessons, PSHE and assemblies.
In school children are taught how to keep safe online and how to deal with unwanted messages and images. This can continue at home with the help of the following websites which offer advice and guidelines for parents
