We hope you have had a lovely holiday
This week it has been 'One Text Everyone Writes' week. The whole school used the story 'We're going on a bear hunt to create some fantastic writing. We started on Monday with Mrs Mabberley explaining a creature had been into school. From this we made story maps of the story. We have also thought about adjectives to describe the bear and Verbs to describe how the bear moves. We then used these adjectives and verbs to create a kenning about the bear.
In Maths this week we have started learning about Fractions. We have been busy finding fractions of shapes by finding halves and quarters. We learnt a new stem sentence to help us remember halves, quarters and thirds. 'We divided into 2 equal parts, each part is a half of the whole'
In topic we have used clay to make our own clay bears
This week in English we have been looking at BAD characters, we looked at different adjectives and worked in small groups to make posters describing these characters. We then created riddles about these characters and asked our friends to see if they could guess who we were describing
In Maths this week we have continued our learning about Division and Sharing, we used the division symbol to solve lots of different problems
In topic we have been using the Ipads to find lots of facts about wolves and created posters using these facts
We also had a visit from an Olympic athlete
This week in English we have been busy continuing our learning about the three little pigs. We planned and wrote our own versions of the story changing the characters. Have a look at our stories in our books in the classroom.
In Maths this week we have started learning about Division and Sharing, we were introduced to the division symbol and how we have to share into different groups.
In topic we have been designing and making our own shields :)
15th January - 19th January
We have had another busy week
In English this week we have continued our learning about Traditional Tales, On Monday we became actors and actresses and retold the story of the three little pigs we even thought carefully about how the wolf and pigs felt during the story. On Tuesday we looked at the dialogue in the story and had a go at writing it using different words for said. We have continued to improve our vocabulary by using lots of new adjectives and synonyms.
In Maths this week we have continued learning about multiplication and arrays focusing on solving lots of open ended problems. We have also looked at doubles and halves.
We have become scientists this week planning and carrying out an investigation to find out what materials are waterproof and which would be a good material for the roof of a house.
8th January - 11th January
This week we have been super busy
In English this week we have started learning about Traditional Tales, On Monday we had a crime scene and had to make predictions about what might have happened. We decided it was the Three Little Pigs and have based our work around this story. We have created some fantastic story boards and improved our vocabulary by using lots of new and exciting adjectives.
In Maths this week we have started learning about multiplication and arrays. We have made arrays to match multiplication number sentences and solved lots of different problems.
ASH CLASS ASSEMBLY
Ash class were amazing on Wednesday when they performed their class assembly. They all read their parts so well and were so confident. The powerpoint and the pictures are below.
