To embrace the challenges of creating a happy and successful adult life, pupils need knowledge that will enable them to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships. Pupils can also put this knowledge into practice as they develop the ability to make good decisions when facing risks and challenges in their everyday life. Relationship, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) lessons are designed to support our pupils to develop our core values of: respect, resilience, empathy and reflection.
At Chilvers Coton Community School our RSHE curriculum and PSHE curriculum is delivered using the programme Jigsaw. The Jigsaw Programme offers us a comprehensive, carefully thought-through Scheme of Work which brings consistency and progression to our children’s learning in this vital curriculum area.
Jigsaw covers all areas of PSHE for the primary phase, including statutory Relationships and Health Education. There are six puzzles in Jigsaw (quickly identified by their colour scheme) designed to progress in sequence from the beginning of each academic year: and these are taught across the school; the learning deepens and broadens every year.
