Phonics and Early Reading

At Chilvers Coton School, we know that reading is the most important thing that we learn. Reading underpins everything we do in our curriculum and we take as many opportunities to read as possible! We teach systematic phonics through the Read Write Inc scheme. For more information about the Read Write Inc programme, please watch the video below.

Favourite Five

Every half term at Chilvers Coton, children will experience 5 quality texts and really get to know them. That means that by the end of their time at Chilvers, children will have read 120 quality texts. This will help to build their confidence in all areas of the curriculum and in particular their writing. See below for the favourite five texts this half term!
